UMBC Undergraduate Diploma Application Instructions
The deadline to apply for May 2007 graduation has passed. This online application is for August 2007 graduates.
I. Application Instructions
- This online application is for undergraduate students who are within 2 semesters of graduation
(generally, those who have at least 90 credits posted to their UMBC record at the time of application.)
If you are within two semesters of graduation and are unable to access your record via this online
application, please contact the Office of the Registrar at (410) 455-2500.
- You will need your UMBC username (same as your myUMBC account username) and your birthdate
(mmddyyyy) to access and complete the Undergraduate Diploma Application.
- To complete the Undergraduate Diploma Application, you will need to submit a $100 non-refundable
diploma application fee. The diploma application fee can be paid online via credit card or electronic
check.
- Please contact your major advisor to review all graduation requirements.
II. Application Deadlines
The Undergraduate Diploma Application must be submitted by the following deadlines:
- For May Graduation - February 15
- For August Graduation - June 15
- For December Graduation - September 15
Note: Commencement Ceremonies are held in May and December only. August graduates are invited to participate in the December commencement ceremonies.
III. Graduation Review Timeline
The timelines below provide applicants a general idea of the steps involved in the graduation
review process:
For May Graduates:
- Undergraduate Diploma Application submitted - no later than February 15
- Acknowledgement of receipt of Undergraduate Diploma Application sent to candidates via UMBC email account
- Commencement information regarding ceremony, announcements and cap and gown orders mailed to candidates - March 1-5
- General Foundation Requirement (GFR), university and major requirement review - March 1-31
- Notification of graduation status mailed - April 1-15
- Commencement ceremonies - May
For August Graduates:
- Undergraduate Diploma Application submitted - no later than June15
- Acknowledgement of receipt of Undergraduate Diploma Application sent to candidates via UMBC email account
- General Foundation Requirement (GFR), university and major requirement review - July 1 - 15
- Notification of graduation status mailed - August 1 - 15
- No Commencement ceremonies (August graduates may participate in December commencement ceremonies)
For December Graduates:
- Undergraduate Diploma Application submitted - no later than September15
- Acknowledgement of receipt of Undergraduate Diploma Application sent to candidates via UMBC email account
- Commencement information regarding ceremony, announcements and cap and gown orders mailed to candidates - October 1-5
- General Foundation Requirement (GFR), university and major requirement review - October 1-31
- Notification of graduation status mailed - November 1-15
- Commencement ceremonies - December
Please note that the graduation review/clearance process begins the semester for which students
have applied to graduate (i.e. Spring for May graduates; Summer for August graduates; and, Fall
for December graduates). Please note that diplomas will not be issued to students with outstanding
financial obligations to the university. If you have additional questions about the graduation review process,
