Application Instructions
Applications to The Citadel

This application is used only for first time cadets. Returning cadets should contact the Registrar. US Navy and US Marine students must use the forms on The Citadel Admission web site under Active Duty Students. Applications are accepted at any time of the year, but The Citadel generally receives more than 70% of all applications by the end of the fall term. To receive consideration for academic scholarship, please apply before October 1. If offered academic acceptance, you must submit a $300.00 deposit (Refundable up to May 1).

NOTE: Depending on when you submit your application, admission maybe considered on a space-available basis only.

How To Apply . . .

Step One for All Applicants:
  • Complete the online application. There is a $40 application fee payable online via secure server upon submission of application.
Step Two:
  • Request that your counselor complete and sign the Additional Information section of the application (Questions 43 and 44). PLEASE HAVE YOUR COUNSELOR INCLUDE YOUR SENIOR YEAR COURSE SCHEDULE AND SCHOOL GRADING SCALE.

  • Final high school transcript
  • College transcirpt(s) must be sent directly from the college.
Step Three for All Applicants:
Mail the following to: Office of Admissions, The Citadel, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29409-6120.
  • SAT or ACT scores (TOEFL for those international students whose native language is not English)
  • Official high school and college transcript. (Note: a transcript marked "issued to student" is not considered official.)

Important Information . . .

Only completed admissions portfolios are reviewed for eligibility by the Office of Admissions. Upon completion of your admissions portfolio, The Citadel will evaluate your application and provide a written notice of academic eligibility. Final acceptance is given to those applicants who meet certain medical and physical standards, including appropriate height and weight requirements. Applicants are required to submit an extensive medical examination report prior to the College granting final acceptance.
