The fee may also be sent with Part Two, but your application will not be reviewed without this fee. Checks or money orders (from U.S. banks only) should be made payable to Emory University. You may choose to pay your application processing fee online at www.emory.edu/ADMISSIONS. Fee waivers for eligible students must be obtained from high school guidance counselors.

Part Two, Secondary School Report, Recommendations, and Transcripts
The Secondary School Report/Counselor Recommendation should be given to the appropriate official in your secondary school. Once completed, this form along with Part Two of the application, your high school/secondary school transcript, and any other recommendations should be mailed to Emory.s Office of Admission in one envelope.

One recommendation from a secondary school official (e.g. college adviser or guidance counselor) is required. Home-schooled students must submit at least one letter of recommendation from someone other than a family member. All students are welcome to submit up to two additional letters of recommendation beyond the one required from their school.

Test Scores
All applicants are required to submit scores from the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT I) or the American College Test (ACT). For those students applying for the 2006-2007 school year, Emory will require one of the following: the old SAT I (without writing), the ACT (without writing), the new SAT I (which includes a writing section), or the ACT with writing. (If you are using this application to apply for the 2007-2008 school year, note that at that point Emory will require the ACT with writing or the new SAT I, which includes a writing section).

Home-schooled students must also submit the results from three SAT II subject tests. If you are home schooled and are applying for the 2006-2007 school year, and you submit scores from the old SAT (without writing) or the old ACT (without writing), then you must also submit the results from three SAT II subject tests: writing, mathematics, and a third of your choice. If you are home schooled and are applying for the 2006-2007 school year and you submit scores from the new SAT (which includes a writing section) or the ACT (with writing), then you must also submit the results from three SAT II subject tests: mathematics and two others of your choice. For home-schooled students applying for the 2007-2008 school year, note that in addition to the new SAT I (which includes a writing section) or the ACT with writing, you must submit the results of three SAT II subject tests: mathematics and two others of your choice. SAT II results are not required of other applicants, but the Admission Committee encourages applicants who take SAT II examinations to submit the scores to Emory. Application forms for the tests may be obtained from your high school counselor or directly from the testing center. Emory's College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB)/SAT college code number is 5187; the ACT code number is 0810. Housing registration takes place online beginning in April. General information regarding this process will be mailed to all admitted students. For more information, go to www.emory.edu/HOUSING

Medical Insurance Requirement
Effective fall semester 2006, Emory University will institute a mandatory health insurance requirement for all Emory University students (domestic and international). First-year admission plans and calendars

You may apply only to one admission plan each academic year.

Early Decision
Students who have selected Emory as their first choice and who wish to receive an admission decision early in their senior year may choose one of two early decision options. The early decision plans are binding. You may apply to only one school early decision, and you are expected to enroll at Emory if accepted, provided you are offered adequate financial aid as determined by the financial aid office (if needed). To be considered for need-based financial aid, early decision applicants must submit the PROFILE and tax documents to the Office of Financial Aid by the appropriate date listed below. If attendance at Emory is contingent upon receiving a merit scholarship, do not choose the early decision options. Final Emory Scholar selections are made after early decision deposit deadlines.

Early Decision I
November 1 Application Deadline
November 1 Deadline to submit PROFILE and tax documents
December 15 Admission decisions mailed
January 15 Early Decision I admission deposit deadline
(If you elect this plan, all standardized testing must be completed by November 1.)

Early Decision II
January 1 Application deadline
January 1 Deadline to submit PROFILE and tax documents
February 1 Admission decisions mailed
February 15 Early decision admission deposit deadline
(If you elect this plan, all standardized testing must be completed by January 1.)

Both early decision rounds are binding. Admitted candidates must respond to offers by mailing a $450 deposit to Emory by the reply date for the round under which they are applying. This is a tuition deposit, housing reservation fee, and orientation fee and is not refundable. Early decision students who decide to enroll at Emory must withdraw all other college applications at the time of deposit. Candidates may be accepted, deferred to regular decision (ED I only), waitlisted (ED II only), or denied.

Emory Scholars (merit-based scholarships)
Each year, Emory offers scholarships based on academic merit to a select group of incoming first-year students. Recipients are chosen entirely on the basis of merit. They receive scholarships renewable for four years of undergraduate study, provided they maintain high standards of personal and academic excellence.

The scholar application requires a separate nomination form and essay. The Office of Admission will mail nomination forms to high school guidance counselors in early September each year. Students who are interested in applying for merit-based scholarships should notify their guidance counselor of their interest in the program in the early fall of their senior year. If your high school counselor does not have the nomination form by early October, please have him or her contact the Office of Admission at 800.727.6036 or 404.727.6036.

The application for admission and nomination form are due by November 1. Although this is an early deadline, this is not a binding program like Early Decision.

November 1 Application deadline
Mid/late January Notification of semifinalist status
Mid/late February Notification of finalist status
May 1 Admissions deposit deadline
(If you elect this plan, all standardized testing must be completed by November 15.)

Regular Decision
Candidates should apply in the fall of their senior year but not later than January 15. (If you elect this plan, all standardized testing must be completed by January 1.)

January 15th Application deadline
April 1 Admission decisions mailed
May 1 Regular decision deposit deadline
(If you elect this plan, all standardized testing must be completed by January 1.)

All candidates who wish to enroll at Emory must respond to offers of admission by mailing a $450 deposit to the Office of Admission by the deadline listed above. This is a tuition deposit, housing reservation fee, and orientation fee and is not refundable. Regular decision applicants may be waitlisted or denied.

Early Admission
Academically exceptional students who wish to enter college after completing the eleventh grade may apply for early admission. Candidates are expected to complete all requirements of regular admission and meet the same standards of eligibility. Candidates must take the SAT or ACT prior to the application deadline. If you are using this application to apply for the 2007-2008 school year, note that Emory will require the ACT with writing or the new SAT (which includes a writing section). A personal interview is highly recommended for Early Admission candidates.

Joint Enrollment
This admission plan serves Atlanta-area students who wish to take courses at Emory while jointly enrolled in high school. These students must have completed the junior year in secondary school and must follow the same admission procedures as candidates for regular admission (see above). The deadline to apply is June 15. Candidates must take the SAT I or ACT prior to the application deadline. If you are using this application to apply for the 2007-2008 school year, note that Emory will require the ACT with writing or the new SAT (which includes a writing section). Joint enrollment students are limited to one class per academic semester.

Financial Aid

Emory realizes that most families may find it necessary to seek financial assistance in order for a student to attend Emory College. Emory is a member of the College Scholarship Service and awards financial assistance on the basis of demonstrated need.

Application Process for Programs Based on Need
The College Scholarship Service PROFILE, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete tax documents are required of all applicants for need-based assistance from Emory. These forms provide us with essential information about your family.s financial picture and enable us to offer you the assistance for which you are eligible.

Guidelines For Filing The PROFILE and FAFSA For The 2006-2007 Academic Year

Step 1 Submit the PROFILE application. You may register online at www.collegeboard.com/profile. You should register only once, and you may list up to ten colleges. Provide Emory's CSS code, 5187, when registering. See the chart to determine when you should register for the PROFILE service.
Step 2 If you register online, you may complete the PROFILE and submit it electronically. See the chart to determine when you should complete your application packet.
Step 3 Obtain a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from a high school guidance office or college financial aid office. You may also submit the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Emory's FAFSA code is 001564. All students interested in financial aid should submit the FAFSA by February 15. If you miss this dead-line, you may still submit the form; if it arrives before April 1, you may still be considered for financial aid. If you have missed the February 15 deadline, you should submit the FAFSA online.
Step 4 Signed and completed copies of the parents' and student's 2005 U.S. income tax returns and W-2s are required of all applicants for financial aid. Early decision applicants should also submit copies of the parents' and student's 2004 U.S. income tax returns and W-2s by November 1 (EDI) or January 1 (EDII). Awards are not final until 2005 tax returns are received and reviewed. Tax returns must be mailed directly to the Office of Financial Aid as soon as they are available; they must be received by April 1. We recommend that you send this material by certified mail and retain your receipt. We will review tax returns in conjunction with your PROFILE and FAFSA, make corrections as needed and/or required by law, and determine your eligibility for financial aid.
