ALL STUDENTS

• Application submitted with $20.00 electronic payment (subject to change) - application fee will be paid on-line upon submission of the application via Mastercard, Visa, or electronic check on a secure server.
• Each applicant must submit a social security number.
• The University may require an applicant to appear for a personal interview and to take those achievement, aptitude and psychological tests it deems appropriate in arriving at a decision regarding the applicant's general qualifications for admission to the University or placement in non-academic courses.
• Certificate of Immunization (available as printable PDF. See Immunization section for more details).

BEGINNING FRESHMEN

• Transcripts: Request your counselor or principal to submit a transcript of all high school work to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. This may be done before completion of senior year in high school. Upon graduation, your final high school transcript with date of graduation should be submitted by your counselor.
• Admission Exam: If you have not previously taken the College Board exam, we suggest that you take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) on the next scheduled date. Be sure that you request a copy of your scores be sent to Albany State and remember to make your application for the test well in advance of the testing date. Your high school counselor or principal should have the necessary application forms, or you may write to the College Board, Box 592, Princeton, New Jersey.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

• Transcripts:Request the Registrar(s) of the college(s) that you have attended to send your transcript(s) to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid.
• We must receive a transcript from each institution you have attended. If you are currently enrolled, submit a transcript of your last quarter's work immediately upon completion of the quarter (or semester).

• Permission to Take Courses: Submit a letter of approval from the Dean or Registrar of the institution where you are a resident listing the courses you should take while enrolled at Albany State University.

  GENERAL INFORMATIONLegal Residency
  • To qualify as a legal resident of Georgia, the applicant, if over 18 years of age, must have lived in Georgia for at least one year prior to the registration date.
  • If the applicant is under 18 years of age, his parents or legal guardian must have physically resided in Georgia for at least one year (12 months) preceding the registration date.
  • Please note that this brief explanation of the residency regulations does not encompass all the rules on residency. If the applicant is in doubt about the legal residence status, he should consult the General Catalogue for the "Legal Resident" rules and regulations of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, or contact the ASU Registrar's Office.

  HOUSING Approved applicants not residing in Albany will be sent an application for housing by the Director of Housing. Students residing in Albany interested in living on campus should request Housing Application Forms from Director of Housing, Albany State University, Albany, GA 31705.

  PRE-ENTRANCE MEDICAL EXAMINATION Full-time students are required to submit a Pre-Entrance Medical Examination report and a Certification of Immunization report from a family physician prior to enrollment. The Pre-Entrance Medical Examination blank and the Certification of Immunization blank will be mailed to approved applicants with your permit to register.

  IMMUNIZATION Outbreaks of vaccine-preventable dieases, especially measles, continue to occur on college campuses. The potential for epidemic spread of measles in Georgia is very real. In recognition of this threat, the University System of Georgia institutions require the completion of a Certificate of Immunization before allowing admission to school (this form is available as a printable PDF file which must be mailed separately. Software for viewing PDF documents is available free from Adobe's Website).
  If you were born prior to 1957, you must show proof of one MMR, if 1957 or after, proof of two MMR's is required. You must submit proof of one MMR before you may register for classes. For those born in 1958 or after,the second MMR must be submitted within 30 days of the 1st day of class.

  APPLICATION CHECKLIST
  • Complete the admissions application in its entirety.
  • Submit the application electronically, with the $20 application fee - application fee will be paid on-line upon submission of the application via Mastercard, Visa, or electronic check on a secure server.
  • You must have a social security number to apply for admissions. Social security numbers are used within the university only and are not given to third parties without your consent.
  • Follow the application deadlines below:
    
    • Fall Quarter - September 1
    • Winter Quarter - December 1
    • Spring Quarter - March 1
    • Summer Quarter - May 15
  • Have your counselor send a copy of your high school transcript to the above address. If you are a transfer student, send official transcripts from all other colleges you have attended.
  • If your SAT or ACT scores are not on your transcript, have the scores sent to Albany State Universtiy from:
