The Application Process

Applications are submitted to the Graduate Admissions. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Processing Time: Admissions decisions for the doctoral program will be made by January 12th for the Spring and June 30th for the Fall. For international students, applicants within the U.S. must apply 4 months before the application deadline. Applicants outside the U.S. must apply 10 months prior to the date of entry to allow time for the exchange of correspondence, evaluation of all necessary documents, and the settling of financial, immigration and housing matters.

Admission to the Computer Science Program

Application to the doctoral program in Computer Science requires evidence of the following:
  • A Bachelor's/Master's degree with background in the following course (a) computer organization (b) Data Structures (c) Discrete Structures (d) Design and Analysis of Algorithm
  • At least two professional recommendations from persons who can attest to the applicant's work experience;
  • An overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) on previous undergraduate/graduate studies.
  • A statement addressing your academic objectives to the field in which you plan to study. Include contemplated research projects and professional career goals. Please include a description of relevant work experience as appropriate.

In addition, applicants must:

  • Submit a completed doctoral program application form with a non-refundable $50.00 application fee;
  • Submit one official transcript from each higher education institution attended. Only sealed and properly labelled transcripts sent directly from a college or university will be considered official; and
  • Submit a current resume or curriculum vita.

Computer Science Degree Requirements

  • Each student pursuing the App.Sc.D. degree must complete a minimum of 72 credit hours including course work, externship, electives, and dissertation research;
  • Each student must successfully pass a Comprehensive Examination after completing approximately 70% of the course requirements; and
  • Each student must successfully complete and defend a dissertation.
