Freshman Applicant Instructions

Freshman applicants must submit the following documents to be considered for admission to Florida A&M University:

  • Undergraduate Application for Admission.
  • A non-refundable application fee of $35.00.
  • An official high school transcript reflecting courses completed from grades nine through eleven. A final transcript reflecting coursework completed from grades nine through twelve with the graduation date posted will be required prior to the initial registration. Certificates of completion are not accepted.
  • Passing scores on the GED with the diploma date posted, if the student did not graduate high school.
  • Scores from the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT1). Either of these tests should be taken no later than the January testing date of the senior year. Information about these tests may be obtained from your high school counselor or by writing:

  • Applicants who have completed coursework at a community college, four-year college or university through dual enrollment must submit an official transcript from that post secondary institution, even if they appear on your high school transcript. If you have taken Advance Placement, CLEP, AICE, or IB exams, you must have official score reports sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Minimum High School Course Unit Requirements (An academic unit is a year-long course that is not remedial in nature.)

  • Four units of English (at least three with substantial writing requirements)
  • Four units of Mathematics (Algebra 1 or above)
  • Three units of Natural Science (at least 2 with laboratory)
  • Three units of Social Science
  • Two units of the same Foreign Language
  • Two elective units (to be taken from English, Mathematics, Natural Science, Foreign Language, Humanities and/or Social Science)
