Gustavus is among the very few
colleges that will tell you NOW what
your costs will be for all four years.
Our Guaranteed Cost Plan insures
that the cost of tuition, room and
board will not increase more than
three percent per year. Students
enrolling in this plan pay a non-refundable
premium in October of
their first term at Gustavus. Other
colleges project fiveûseven percent
increases per year; with the
Guaranteed Cost Plan you can
expect to save nearly $3,000 over
four years.

Gustavus Adolphus College has a
financial aid program available to
students from other countries. The
award is based on a combination of
financial need and academic
qualifications. Since only partial
scholarships are awarded, students
must be prepared to cover a
reasonable portion of their
expenses. Financial aid is limited
and competitive. Some of the
scholarships are awarded to
students applying through such
organizations as the Institute of
International Education.
|
|
Students with coursework
completed at the advanced level
(i.e., WASC, SPTM, IB-Higher level) or
in other accredited institutions of
post-secondary education may be
considered for advanced standing.
Credit will be granted on a
course-by-course basis after satisfactory
progress is shown at Gustavus
Adolphus College.

Students at Gustavus devote one-third
of their coursework to general
education. As first-year students,
they choose either Curriculum I or
Curriculum II.
Curriculum I allows you to select 12
courses from among seven broad
subject areas and to take these
courses in any sequence at any time
prior to graduation.
Curriculum II covers the same
subject areas as Curriculum I, but
does so in a pre-designed program
available only to CII students.
Courses build on each other
throughout the four years and
explore the inter-relatedness of the
subject areas. CII also conducts
special seminars, retreats, and off
campus activities. Acceptance to the
CII program is limited to 60 students
per year and is based upon the date
your CII application is received.

|
Your first year of college is a time of
exploration. Most students are
undecided about their major at first.
Your first-year advisor will be either
your First Term Seminar professor or
a Curriculum II advisor, depending
on whether you sign up for
Curriculum I or II.
Students with pre-professional
interests will be given special
advising assignments. After your
first year you may choose your own
advisor depending on the major
you choose to pursue.
