The following information applies to all Masters programs in the University of Kansas School of Business. Admission to these programs is based on the information supplied by the applicant with emphasis on prior academic experience, admission test scores, work experience, recommendations provided by employers or instructors, and space available in the desired program. Semester of Entrance
|
Students are admitted to the full-time, In-Residence MBA program in the fall semester only. Students are admitted to the part-time, Evening-Professional MBA program and the MAIS and MSBIS programs in both the fall and spring semesters. The deadline for fall "early bird" applications is January 15. All other fall applications must be completed no later than June 1 for US citizens and permanent residents and May 1st for international students. The spring application deadlines are November 1 for US citizens and permanent residents and October 1st for international students. Summer admission is also available for the MAIS and MSBIS programs, with a March 1 deadline. Applications submitted after these dates are considered only as space permits.

Application Materials
|
Application materials include: the online application form, three essays, two recommendation forms*, official transcripts, current resume, GMAT and TOEFL (if applicable) scores, financial documentation (international applicants only), and the academic code of honor form*.
All of these materials must be completed and returned to the University of Kansas School of Business, and official score reports for the appropriate tests must be received before an applicant can be considered for admission. Applicants are advised to retain copies of admissions materials for their own records. All application materials become the property of the University of Kansas and cannot be returned or transferred.

Application Fee
|
An application fee of $60.00, payable online, is required from all applicants. The application fee can neither be waived nor refunded.

|
Applicants should complete the appropriate application form based on citizenship status. The application questions should be answered carefully and completely. The application is submitted online. The supplemental forms must be signed, dated, and submitted to:

Recommendations
|
Applicants are required to submit two completed recommendation forms*. These should be requested from employers and/or faculty who have worked closely with you and are able to give specific information about your abilities, accomplishments and potential.
Please be sure to complete the top section of each form. Send both the form and a self-addressed envelope to each person you have asked to recommend you for admission. He/she should complete the form, seal it in the envelope provided, sign his/her name across the seal, and return it directly to you. These letters should be submitted unopened.

Official Transcripts
|
Two official transcripts indicating all courses completed, dates, grades, and credits or time dedicated to each is required for all college work completed or attempted. Request an official transcripts from your college or university registrar. The registrar should seal the transcript in the institution's envelope, sign his/her name on the line across the envelope, and return it to you or mail it directly to the KU School of Business. If you have attended more than one college or university, you are required to submit an official transcript from each institution regardless of how many credit hours completed (this includes college coursework completed during high school). All transcripts must be submitted unopened to be considered official.

The Graduate Management Admission Test
|
The GMAT is required of all applicants to School of Business Masters programs. There are no exceptions to this policy. Scores that are more than five years old will not be accepted.
Although no absolute minimums are established for GMAT scores and GPA, the successful applicant usually scores about the 80th percentile on the GMAT and has at least a B average in his or her most recent college work. GMAT scores usually range from 540 to 720, with an average of 620.

Test of English as a Foreign Language
|
The TOEFL is a comprehensive test of English language skills. It is used together with the verbal section of the GMAT to determine whether a candidate is prepared to begin a graduate program conducted in English. The TOEFL is required of applicants whose native language is not English. This requirement may be waived, at the discretion of Masters program staff, if an applicant has studied at an institution in which the primary language of instruction was English.
A minimum TOEFL score of 600 on the paper-based test, with a score of 57 in each section, or 250 on the computer-based test, with a score of 23 in each section, is required. Scores more than two years old will not be accepted.
