GRUA College of Dental Medicine

Information and Instructions

General Information

  1. For the 2014 entering class, the Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine will be participating in the American Association of Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS). The AADSAS application is the only method for applying to the College of Dental Medicine. Applications for the entering 2014 entering class must be submitted to AADSAS by Sept 30, 2013 to be considered by GRU.
  2. A supplemental application is also required to be considered further. All Georgia resident applicants will be sent a link to the supplemental application shortly after the AADSAS application has been forwarded to the CDM. Please do not submit a supplemental application before submitting an AADSAS application. Out of state applicants should submit a supplemental application only when invited by the admissions office.
  3. The supplemental application fee is $30.00, which must be paid on-line with a debit/credit card or an electronic check. This fee is non-refundable. Once payment is authorized your supplemental application is on its way to the College of Dental Medicine, and you can no longer make changes to it.
  4. If you are reapplying and recall your username and password, you may retrieve your previous application and edit the components that still remain in the supplemental version of the College of Dental Medicine application. However, all applicants should not submit the supplemental application until they have been given permission by receiving the link. This will confirm that the College of Dental Medicine has received your AADSAS application.
  5. Interviews with the admissions Committee are by invitation only. Applicants to be interviewed will be selected following a review of the complete application.
  6. Providing false on incomplete information on this application or any of the documents supporting your application for admission can result in denial of admission, invalidation of an acceptance decision. Students are subject to disenrollment or dismissal for falsifying application information at any time during enrollment prior to graduation.

Information on Required Tests

Instructions for Completing the Application

  1. Follow carefully the instructions for completing each portion of the application. A final decision cannot be rendered about an interview until an applicant's complete AADSAS application, supplemental application, and several other documents have been received in the CDM admission office. Those other documents are as follows:
    • The applicant is responsible for submitting official transcripts from all American accredited colleges and universities which were attended to the College of Dental Medicine.
    • Applicants who are required to take TOEFL exam should ensure that the test is taken by the Sept 30, 2013 deadline and an official copy of the scores is sent to the College of Dental Medicine.
    • Applicants who are permanent resident of the United States must submit a photocopy of the front and back of a valid permanent resident card before being considered for an interview. If granted an interview, the original permanent residency card will be copied by admission office personnel at that time. Alternative visa documentation may be acceptable on a case by case basis.
    • To verify lawful presence, a photocopy of an applicant's valid Georgia driver's license that was issued January 2008 or later must be submitted to the admission office. Applicants who are residents of Alabama must include a photocopy of a valid Alabama driver's license that was issued August 2000 or later. If granted an interview, the original valid driver's license from those states will be copied by admission office personnel at that time.
  2. Residents of states other than Georgia or Alabama are required to send one of the following documents for lawful presence verification:
    • A Certified Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the United States or a U.S. territory. A photocopy is not acceptable.
    • A U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570).

    • A current U.S. passport.
    • A current ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
    • A current military ID (service member only, not dependent)
    • A current, valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS form I-151 or I-551)
Although a photocopy of various documents is acceptable to be considered for an interview, the original document must be presented to admission personnel on the interview day.
  3. All mailings should be sent to the following address:
    Georgia Regents University
Office of Students, Admissions and Alumni
College of Dental Medicine, GC 5022
    1120 15th Street
    Augusta, Georgia 30912
  4. Be sure to complete the State Residency information portion of the supplemental application. A residence ruling must be made before your application can be processed. If Georgia Residency Status should come into question, you may be asked to submit additional documentation to support this status.
  5. Be sure your email address is correct as we will use email for most communications throughout the Admissions process.
  6. All letters of recommendation must be submitted through the AADSAS process. An applicant applying to CDM has two options pertaining to letters of recommendation. An applicant can have a composite letter/committee letter or packet submitted and a personal reference letter. For CDM, the personal reference must be a dentist. The second option is four individual letters in which one must be an academic advisor, science instructor or other advocate for how the applicant performs at the university; the second letter writer must be a dentist. The third and fourth letters are considered personal references and can come from whomever an applicant choses. This can be additional instructors, dentists, employers, etc.
