Middle Georgia College will admit a limited number of students who are missing up to 4 of the college preparatory course units listed above or who complete the requirements for an approved technical or career-preparatory high school diploma and who meet other defined standards. The "limited admission" students will be scheduled to take make-up courses designed to overcome college preparatory curriculum deficiencies. Such developmental courses will not count toward a degree.
8. The applicant should have a predicted grade-point average (based upon high-school grades, SAT or ACT scores, and other pertinent data as determined by the Admissions Committee of Middle Georgia College) which indicates that the applicant has the potential to pursue effectively the educational program of the institution. In order to be considered a regular-admission student the applicant must have a minimum of a 1.80 high school grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) on all academic courses, and a 330 verbal SAT score, and a 310 quantitative SAT score, and no deficiencies from the preceding list of required college preparatory courses. Comparable ACT scores, as determined by the University System of Georgia, may be used to meet the test score requirement.
9. Students who, on the basis of their test scores and high-school records, do not appear to be adequately prepared may be admitted as students in the Learning Support/Developmental Studies program. Students who possess less than a 2.0 high school academic grade-point average or who score below 430 on the verbal or below 400 on the mathematics portion of the SAT (or comparable scores on the ACT) will take the Collegiate Placement Examination to determine whether Learning Support/Developmental Studies shall be required. (Students who are normally exempt may, at times, be given the Collegiate Placement Examination for research purposes only.)
Courses taken within the Learning Support/Developmental Studies Program are institutional credit courses and are not applicable to any degree program offered by the college.
10. Applicants who have earned fewer than 30 transferable semester credit hours shall complete all the requirements for freshman admissions.
(Exceptions to the requirements for regular
admission and provisions for admission to special categories of students
are given elsewhere in this section.)
