Requirements
Muhlenberg College is committed to the ideal of excellent standards of scholarship. The College selects students who give evidence of ability and scholastic achievement, seriousness of purpose, quality of character and the capacity to make constructive contributions to the College community. Careful consideration is given to each applicant as a scholar and as a person, with the object being to assemble a class that is academically talented and diversified.
Application Procedures
Freshman Applicants
- Complete the application carefully. Every question must be fully answered. Submit completed form by February 15.
- A non-refundable application fee of $45 must accompany the application. The application will not be reviewed unless this fee is paid.
- An official transcript of your high school academic record must be sent, and should include your 9th grade work. The transcript should also include your senior course roster, your rank in class and scores in aptitude tests taken in high school.
- Your seventh semester (or similar period) grade report must be sent from your high school at the end of your first semester (or similar period) senior year.
- References are required from two (2) teachers with whom you have worked in academic courses. (Download the form provided.)
- Submission of SAT-I or ACT scores is optional. Students may submit SAT-I or ACT scores, or may be considered for admission on the basis of submission of a graded paper (with teacher's grade and comments on it) and a required interview. Muhlenberg's CEEB number is 2424.
- A personal interview with a member of the Admission staff is strongly recommended. (Arrangements should be made by contacting the Office of Admission [484-664-3200] well in advance of the intended visit.) Campus tours are also available in conjunction with the interview or by separate appointment.
Transfer Applicants
- Complete the application carefully. Every question must be fully answered. Submit completed form by December 10 (Spring) or June 15 (Fall).
- A non-refundable application fee of $45 must accompany the application. The application will not be reviewed unless this fee is paid.
- An official transcript of your college work as well as a statement of honorable dismissal from the Dean of Students (or similar official) of the institution you are presently attending are required.
- References are required from two (2) professors. (Download the form provided.)
- An official transcript of your final high school record, including 9th grade, should be sent. The transcript should also include your final rank in class and scores on aptitude tests taken in high school.
- If you have previously taken the SAT's or ACT's, a copy of your score report should be sent.
- A personal interview with a member of the Admission staff is required for transfer applicants.
