Certification of Finances
Evidence of financial responsibility is required of all international student applicants. Financial verification through the completed Certificate of Finances must be made by the College prior to institutional issuance of Certification of Eligibility (Form I-20). If you are accepted for admission to Saint Mary’s, the information you have provided will be used to prepare the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20). Without this form, you will not be able to apply for a student visa to attend Saint Mary’s College.
Make sure you complete all sections of the Certification of Finances. This form should be either certified or notarized by a local official or include a certified bank statement indicating a minimum amount available to meet the costs of your education at Saint Mary’s College.
All accepted international students should be prepared to make full payment of tuition and fees, room and board for the academic year prior to their entrance to Saint Mary’s College each August.
Scholarship Opportunities
Academic Scholarships: These scholarships and awards range from $4,000 to $13,500 per year, and are renewable for four years. In order to qualify, all aspects of your academic profile will be reviewed, including grade point average, results of the SAT and TOEFL scores, rank in class (if available) and strength of your academic curriculum. You do not need to complete the International Student Financial Aid Application in order to be considered for these academic scholarships.
International Scholarship: Most financial aid resources available at Saint Mary’s are Federally-based programs which carry U.S. citizenship requirements. As a result, international students are precluded from most needbased financial aid consideration except for limited grants and ONE INTENSIVELY COMPETITIVE SCHOLARSHIP. This award is given to the best academically qualified incoming first year international student who also demonstrates financial need.
Applicants for available need-based financial assistance and the International Scholarship must complete the Certification of Finances and the International Student Financial Aid Application provided by January 15. The International Scholarship includes tuition, fees, room, board, books and supplies; it does not include travel or living expenses or summer housing. Students must be prepared to assume responsibility for their personal expenses in the U.S.A. No one should rely upon the International Scholarship as a sole means of financing their education at Saint Mary’s College.
