  • Application Fee $75

    The application fee is nonrefundable and must be submitted each time you apply to the UW. More
  • English Proficiency: Send Official Test Scores

    International freshmen and transfer students are required to submit English proficiency test scores for admission to the UW. More
  • Complete Minimum Courses

    Freshman and transfer applicants must show a minimum level of preparation in six academic subject areas. At the UW, we expect a lot more than the minimum. More
  • Writing Section

    This is your chance to tell us about yourself through a thoughtful, well-written Personal Statement. More
  • Transcripts? Submit with Online Application Only

    Review how to submit your high school transcripts online and where to send your official college transcripts. More
  • Do Not Send Letters of Recommendation

    We do not consider letters of recommendation or other supplementary materials. More

You'll Need

Gathering these documents and materials before you start will help the application go more smoothly.

  • Your passport showing your legal name and any variations
  • Other legal names you have used on school transcripts or test scores
  • If you have ever attended the UW, your UW Student Number
  • Mailing address and permanent foreign address written in English
  • If you are already in the U.S. with a visa, the type of visa; for those with an I-20 from a U.S. school, the SEVIS ID number
  • Personal information and educational background about one or more of your parents/guardians
  • Test score results for TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, or ACT you have already taken
  • Dates of TOEFL, IELTS, SAT or ACT you plan to take
  • Copies of school records to accurately record the names of schools attended and dates of attendance
  • Class schedule for the 2013-2014 academic year
  • Paper copy of your high school transcript: You will make an electronic copy to attach to the online application
  • A strong desire to tell your story
  • Credit card or U.S. checking account to pay the application fee
