Dear Applicant,

Welcome to the online application website for UCSF's Graduate Group in Biophysics. Our program invites you to contribute your skills as a Ph.D. student in one of our forty-six outstanding faculty labs doing challenging work in structural and computational biology, cellular and molecular biophysics, computational chemistry and theoretical neuroscience. We welcome students with backgrounds in the quantitative sciences as well as those with biological backgrounds who are interested in pursuing a quantitative understanding of biological processes at the molecular, cellular and systems levels.

Applications are read by our admissions committee during the week following January 3, in the order in which they are completed. Interview decisions are made at this time. It is in your interest to make sure that your completed application reaches us before the deadline. Interview dates in 2005 are Friday/Saturday February 11-12 and March 4-5.

Please read the Fellowships section of this online application for advice and useful links to fellowship resources.

We are looking forward to reading your application and learning about your research interests and goals. Please feel free to contact the program with any questions you have. Julie Ransom, our program's administrator, will be happy to answer your questions on the phone or by email (415/476-6671; ransom@cgl.ucsf.edu).

Best wishes,
David Agard
Chairman, Graduate Group in Biophysics
