Please submit your application, application fee and essay online. Please mail Certificate of Finances to Admissions Office, P.O. Box 4800, Moraga, CA 94575-4800. Letters of recommendation may be sent separately or included with other materials. The Admissions Committee will not make a final decision on your application until all application materials are received. There is a $55.00 (USD) non-refundable application fee for all applicants.

SAT EXAMINATIONS.
Taking the SAT I: Reasoning Test is strongly recommended of all international freshman applicants. SAT I Test results are not needed for transfer applicants. SAT II Subject Tests are not required for any applicants.
Applicants may repeat the examination any number of times. Saint Mary's will take the highest score in each section to give you the highest score possible. The SAT school code for Saint Mary's College is 4675.

TOEFL & WAIVERS
The TOEFL is required for all students whose native language is not English. Minimum score expected on the paper-based test is 525 and 197 on the computer-base test for undergraduate study.
Those who have not taken the TOEFL, or those who score less than 525 (197), may be granted conditional acceptance and will have an opportunity to take the TOEFL when they arrive at the College.

This requirement may be waived under any of the following conditions: completion of four consecutive years of study at a high school in the U.S., completion of a minimum of 60 transferable credit hours at a U.S. university or college, completion of education in a country where the official language is English, scoring of 500 or above on the SAT Verbal, or 22 or above on the Act English.

CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.
Students who have scores between 475 (153) and 524 (193) may be enrolled in a program consisting of one or two undergraduate courses, chosen in consultation with the faculty advisor and the Intensive English Program.
Students who have a strong academic background with scores lower than 475 (153) can also receive conditional acceptance, but will be enrolled full-time in the Intensive English Program.

DEADLINES.
Saint Mary's College accepts freshman and transfer applications for the Fall Semester, January Term and Spring Semester. The deadline for fall freshman applications is May 1. After the deadline, applications will be individually reviewed as space is available.

In general, students will need an additional $2,000.00 (approximately) for out-of-pocket expenses such as books, clothing, laundry/dry cleaning, entertainment, etc.

Students living in the residence halls will also need to pay for off-campus housing during June, July and August, if they plan to stay in the U.S. during that time. Saint Mary's courses are not in session in the summer months, and the residence halls are not open.

AFFIDAVIT OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
(Necessary for Visa Issuance)
Under the rules of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) of the U.S. Government, Saint Mary's College is required to verify that all international applicants have the financial resources necessary to attend. You must demonstrate that you will have the amount of tuition, expenses and other fees shown above as estimated costs to attend Saint Mary's for the entire time you plan to attend. The amount does not include estimated living expenses for the summer vacation period, or for your transportation costs to campus

The INS requires you to show how you will pay all costs for each year of study in the U.S. You should assume that total expenses will rise about 10 percent for each year of study.

Please remember that student visa holders are not authorized to work in the U.S. except under special circumstances. You may not include U.S. employment as part of your support while you are studying here.

FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS.
The U.S. federal government currently restricts it s federal financial aid programs to U.S. citizens, and Saint Mary's College does not currently offer scholarships or financial aid for students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States. However, there may be assistance from private sources available to you. We encourage you to explore scholarship opportunities through these sources. The staff at your current school may be of help to you.

Payments can be made directly to our Business Office by check or credit card. In addition, to wire money to Saint Mary's College, students will need to include their full name and their SMC identification number or Social Security Number as part of the transaction.
